AIHR and the Advanced HR Value Chain

If you hang out with other academies, you may have seen this post from AIHR, titled 5 Human Resources Models Every HR Practitioner Should Know. On Linkedin, it’s promoted with the question, “Have you heard about the Advanced HR Value Chain? – Learn more about it in our article on the 5 Most Practical HR Models, that enable us to explain what HR’s role is & how it adds value to the business.”

Actually, I have heard about the advaced value chain as I developed it and presented it in my 2006 book, ‘Strategic Human Capital Management (HCM)’. It was developed by looking at Kaplan and Norton’s business strategy map and expanding their learning and growth perspective, along the lines of the Harvard model, into HR inputs, activities and outcomes (which include human capital, hence HCM).

I have told AIHR about me being the author of this before, but they’re still saying “we’ve researched a lot of the literature but we can’t find an original source for this model”. Oh well! At least we know that when you do a programme with the Strategic HR Academy, you’re getting original content from a recognised thought leader.

See in particular our Strategic Partnering course which is largely based on developing HR’s strategic role by using the advanced HR chain.
