‘Putting People First for Meaning and Performance’ is the first of the four learning programmes in this stream.

Putting people first aims to help employees achieve their own objectives. It contrasts with the traditional approach to engagement in which employees are encouraged to achieve the company’s objectives. However, this has not been working that well. Currently, just 41% of employees agree that senior leaders act in their best interest (from the 2021 Gartner Hybrid Work Employee Survey). For as long as this is the case, employees are not going to fully commit to their employers.

Study groups span over 2 months and consist of asynchronous chat and four one-hour Zoom calls per study group. These groups let you learn alongside other HR practitioners, sharing your insights and experiences, and further expanding your understanding.

Focusing on employee experience provides a potentially smarter approach to meeting employee and organisational needs than HR’s traditional emphasis on engagement and leads to other major benefits too. How to join a study group
To join any study group you first need to enrol onto the relevant course. Visit our courses page to do this. Once you have purchased your training course (or if you have Gold, Platinum or Partner membership) you will have access to the Member Zone and you will be able to join the associated study group. Silver membership is automatically provided with each course enrolment.

About Jon Ingham

All programmes are delivered and facilitated by Jon Ingham, a former international HR Director who now works as a strategic HR trainer and consultant. Jon has also written several articles, book chapters and books on the future of work and of HR, including ‘Building Better HR Departments’ (with Dave Ulrich, 2016) and ’The Social Organization’ (Kogan Page, 2017).
